About Liz Patterson
For over 25 years, Liz has been at the forefront of coastal planning and management, working across government and the private sector. Holding a Master’s in Coastal Resource Management and a Bachelor of Biological Science, she has played a key role in Victoria’s Marine and Coastal reforms, including the development of the Marine and Coastal Act, Marine and Coastal Policy, Marine and Coastal Strategy, Victoria’s Resilient Coast framework, and the Siting and Design Guidelines for Structures on the Victorian Coast.
Liz has worked with coastal management organisations to bring these frameworks to life. She bridges the gap between policy and practice, tackling complex coastal challenges and turning them into practical, actionable solutions.
In 2024, she founded Liz Patterson Coastal Consulting to help coastal professionals confidently apply policy tools and build their expertise in coastal planning and management.
